Security Camera Systems for the Disabled

Monitor Multiple Cameras at Once
Monitor Multiple Cameras at Once

Availing of a security camera system is a way to monitor the area for any suspicious activity. Although issues of privacy have been raised when it comes to using security camera surveillance systems in public areas, this has not prevented or limited their use in varying areas or purposes.

The disabled are also finding uses for these systems. For those living at home, voice-activated security systems allow handicapped residents to live independently yet feel safe in their own homes. Family members may want to consider buying a security camera to keep an eye on hired help and on their loved ones as well.

The same is true when it comes to owners of establishments housing handicapped individuals. Installing a security device can be considered a home modification. Individuals may contact a variety of government or private groups and organizations for information and financial assistance when choosing the right home modification such as a CCTV camera or a complete home automation system.

Home automation systems help the disabled and the elderly become more independent. These systems often include control over lights, appliances, temperature and other functions inside the home. A number of these systems may also include a security camera system.

Installing security cameras can help keep homes safer by allowing residents to watch what is going on in and around the perimeter of their home. Voice-activated or voice-controlled security camera systems allow the disabled and elderly to control functions and features without exerting physical effort.

In case an emergency occurs, these home automation systems can automatically send the alert to the proper authorities such as the police, fire department or hospital among others.

For individuals with more severe disabilities, a security camera system can also keep them safe in other ways. Expert help is often hired by the relatives or care facility. However, there is little assurance of how each employee is treating the disabled patient when nobody is looking around.

A security camera can help record evidence of the patients being abused. The reverse is also true. The footage can reveal if the patient is mistreating the help or purposely misbehaving. Relatives or owners of the facility can then select the appropriate action based on the footage captured by the security camera.

Choosing the right security camera system for the home or office can be a challenge. There are many brands, types and models to choose from, each with a different set of functions and features. The challenge becomes even greater when selecting equipment that can be used for or by the disabled or elderly.

A security camera can be part of the home’s modification system. When it comes to picking the right security system for the disabled or elderly, there are government agencies and private companies that are willing to offer information, assistance and discounts to products and services.

In the United States, one may contact companies and groups such as the Easter Seals Society and Disability Action Center for information on modifications such as home automation systems. For disabled veterans and their immediate family members, there is Lowe’s Companies, Inc. where qualified applicants can avail up to 10% on specific products and services.

I just need to record audio and video. I am disabled and live with my 83 yr old mom. I depend on Home Care Attendants. But I need to have proof and evidence in case there is abuse or violence. I want to hide the camera in stuffed animals or somewhere it can’t be seen only me will know. And one camera by door to see who is at door. Possible An unlock lock to have a combination for the CMAS. WHERE I don’t have to open door .
